Background
Established in Sharon, Ontario in 1991, the Sharon Temple Museum Society, a registered not for profit organization, has been operating the Sharon Temple National Historic Site, as a museum, cultural and education centre, and as a focal point for a range of community activities. The site has been recognized as having national historic, heritage and cultural value, and recent research demonstrates its considerable provincial significance as one of the key birthplaces of democracy. The Society has built its reputation on the combination of historical significance, architectural renown, and community service provider.

Funding has recently been approved which will allow STMS to engage consultants to develop a business plan and to conduct a subsequent feasibility study to bring STMS closer to realizing its vision: to be the creator of an exceptional and unique interpretive centre of the values and practices of the Children of Peace, and a model of preservation and conservation best practices.
