The CRD is seeking a Park Naturalist to join the Parks Services North team. The Park Naturalist is responsible for creating and delivering a range of personal and non-personal interpretive services as well as developing interpretive program support resources. This position is also involved with the operation of two nature centres and participates as a member of the Park Services team to protect the natural environment and enhance the visitor experience of our regional parks and trails.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess a University degree in natural sciences, education, performing arts or a related discipline, and three years related interpretive experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The candidate will also possess a demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques of environmental interpretation and a demonstrated knowledge of the methods and objectives of developing, implementing and evaluating interpretive programs. The successful incumbent will have established experience interpreting natural and cultural history, particularly in an outdoor setting as well as excellent communication skills, public speaking, writing, and presentation skills.
