Collection of over 5000 objects and archival documents concerning games and game playing - board and table games, playing cards, gambling games, Inuit games, African games, Asian games, Canadian manufactured games, related art objects, games modified for physical limitations, etc.
About the Collections No restriction as to time or origin of an object in the collection. Many one of a kind, hand made games, plus prototypes, and manufactured games. Some game-related materials and furnishings. Large collection of Canadian manufactured games, Inuit and Native Canadian games. Artifacts and archival material depicting the history, use, and development of games throughout the world Approximate number of objects in the collections: 5000+ Archives In cooperation with the University of Waterloo Library. Archive includes books, monographs, research papers, journals, furtive materials, photos, videotapes, electronic materials, etc. Pre-19th century bound books stored in University Library Special Collections Area. Cartographic Materials Electronic Records Prints and Drawings Films and Videos Textual Records Decorative Arts Game materials which are furniture, and game-related furniture.
