Arts Service Organizations

Program for: Organizations

Purpose: The Arts Service Organizations programs supports provincial or national membership-based Arts Service Organizations (ASOs) that provide services and programs to support their members’ professional, career or organizational development and promote an awareness of the arts in Ontario.

The program provides operating and project support.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this program, arts service organizations must:

  • be not-for-profit (with the exception of book and magazine publishers);
  • be Ontario-based;
  • be led by qualified professional personnel;
  • have been in operation for at least two years;
  • have a demonstrated record of regular, ongoing programming in their communities;
  • have proof of sound financial management;
  • submit verification of financial results of the last completed fiscal year with their applications;
  • be governed by a board of directors or an advisory body responsible for the organization.

In addition to the above, in order to apply to the Arts Service Organizations program you must:

  • have an Ontario-wide or national mandate and membership (a majority of your Ontario members must be eligible for funding in OAC’s disciplinary and cross-disciplinary granting programs);
  • have paid membership criteria;
  • provide a range of services/programs;
  • have a head office incorporated/registered in Ontario.

ASOs that serve an ethno-racial membership that are not provincial or national in scope, but that may have a provincial or national impact, may also be eligible to apply.
