The Government of Canada Provides Financial Support for Repentigny's Volleyball Challenge
REPENTIGNY, July 27, 2000 -- Secretary of State (Amateur Sport) Denis Coderre today announced financial support of $15,000 to Repentigny's Volleyball Challenge which takes place from July 27 to July 30.This national scale competition is an important gathering of amateur athletes in Quebec. It is expected that 465 teams will attend this 10th edition of the Repentigny's Volleyball Challenge.
"The Government of Canada is pleased to participate in national sports events," said Mr. Coderre. "The government's support of such events is a testimony of its commitment to ensure that sport is present everywhere in the country. Repentigny's Volleyball Challenge will generate important economic and social benefits for this region."
Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2000 federal budget and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
