New look for Visitor Centre

Our visitor centre has been totally renovated and re-designed with all new displays and a larger theatre area. Our video presentation will be available in English, French or Mandarin Chinese simultaneously.

Bethune Legacy

In August 2000, the Town of Gravenhurst erected a statue in the town square and Governor General Adrienne Clarkson performed the unveiling on that occasion.

In September 2001, the Mayor of Gravenhurst, John Klink, attended an unveiling ceremony in Shijiazhuang in the province of Hebei, China where another statue of Dr. Bethune was dedicated.

The Town of Gravenhurst also signed a twinning agreement with Tang County, China in December, 2002. On this occasion Mayor Feng Shaohua pronounced "Bethune will always be a monument of friendship between China and Canada. And this friendship will be passed on from decade to decade."

New Books

The revised editions of "The Mind of Norman Bethune" and "Norman Bethune" by Roderick Stewart have just been published.

"Righting Wrongs: The Story Of Norman Bethune" by John Wilson was published in 2001.

"The Politics of Passion: Norman Bethune's Writing and Art" by Larry Hannant was published in 1998.
