What is the Government On-Line initiative?
The Government On-Line (GOL) initiative touches 34 federal departments and agencies that provide over 130 services used by Canadians. Its
goal is to use information and communication technology to provide Canadians with enhanced access to improve citizen-centered, integrated
services, anytime, anywhere and in the official language of their choice. The approach is both client-centered and "whole of government".
The initiative began in 2000 and sunsetted in 2005.
For more information on the GOL initiative, we invite you to visit the Web site of Public Works and
Government Services Canada within their GOL section.
Canadian Heritage Reports on the Government On-Line Initiative

Canadian Cultural Observatory, The Canadian Heritage Information Network, The Virtual Museum of Canada, The Canadian Conservation Institute,
Preserving my Heritage, The Government of Canada Consultation Portal, The Culture, Heritage and Recreation Cluster and the Funding Support
