Schedule for submission of Canada's reports to the United Nations
Canada is a party to the six principal United Nations human rights treaties and is required to submit periodic reports to the UN on measures that have been undertaken by federal, provincial and territorial governments that serve to implement those treaties. Following is a schedule of the months in which Canada expects to submit its upcoming reports.
1. Supplemental information includes reports or responses to UN Committees to provide update information in advance of appearing for review of Canada's reports.
2. Given that Canada already reported on the period that was to be covered in the Sixth report in an update paper and during its January 2003 appearance, Canada has indicated its intention to submit its next report in January 2007.
3. The Interim Report in follow-up to the review of Canada’s Fourth and Fifth Reports on the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment was submitted to the United nations in June 2006. It is available from the Human Rights Program in hard copy and will be posted on this Web
site shortly.
4. Canada’s responses to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights advance questions were submitted in April 2006. They are available from the Human Rights Program in hard copy and will be posted on this Web site shortly.
