  • 1/5/2007 - Navy Announces Lighting Contest Winners
    By popular vote, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Calgary and the Fleet Maintenance Engineering displays are co-winners of the 19th Annual Navy Lighting Contest held at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt Dec. 14 to 24, 2006.  Eighteen CFB Esquimalt buildings and Pacific Fleet warships decorated and competed in this year’s contest.  More than 3,600 people toured the base and viewed the lighting entries on buses that passed by each participant while a guide provided information.  Visitors donated $3,308 in cash and 5,500 pounds of food to the Mustard Seed Food as admission into the Base.  The total value of this generosity is $17,073.

  • 12/20/2006 - Marine Security And Rescue Centres Keep Watch Over Christmas
    In addition to civilian emergency services that are “at the ready” over Christmas and New Years, members of the Canadian Forces, Coast Guard and other Federal Departments keep constant watch at the Maritime Security Operations Centre (MSOC) and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in HMC Dockyard in Victoria.

  • 12/20/2006 - New Years Day Levees 1 January 2007
    Dress for all civilians attending Military Levees is jacket and tie or equivalent.  Military personnel wear service dress with medals.

  • 12/12/2006 - Navy Holiday Tradition Approaching
    The 19th Annual Navy Lighting Contest is now less than one week away.  This display of festive lighting will occur at CFB Esquimalt nightly from 6 to 9 p.m. December 14 to 24.  This 11-night contest challenges six ships and 12 buildings against each other in an effort to impress visitors, but with the real aim of helping out the Mustard Seed Food Bank.

  • 12/12/2006 - Navy Ship Hosts Children’s Community Christmas Party
    With their ship in refit, the crew of HMCS Protecteur will host the 20th annual Children’s Community Christmas Party aboard substitute HMCS Algonquin Thursday afternoon.  Supported by the Esquimalt Lions Club, and the “Friends of HMCS Protecteur” community group, the ship will host about 45 children from MacAulay, Lake Hill, Tillicum, Lampson, and Mckenzie Elementary Schools.
