  • 7/31/2007 - Relocation of Feathered Guests at CFB Esquimalt a Success
    Almost three months ago a breeding pair of Osprey had their nest relocated from the mast of the former HMCS Huron to a nearby 80-foot high platform built by the Base’s Construction Engineering section and positioned to mimic the original nesting site.  The pair took up their new residence immediately, but until last week it was unknown as to whether there were any offspring.

  • 7/31/2007 - Canadian Ships Take Part In Seattle Seafair’s Fleet Week
    Three Canadian Navy ships join United States Navy (USN) ships tomorrow for the Elliot Bay Parade of Ships, which starts at 1:45 p.m.  After the parade, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships (HMCS) Nanaimo, Brandon and Edmonton will return to sea and resume their tasking of training junior naval officers in advanced navigation.

  • 7/25/2007 - Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Keeps Watch Over Marine Safety At Vancouver Celebration Of Light
    The Victoria Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) will keep watch over marine safety for the Vancouver “Celebration of Light 2007” firework displays on July 25, 28 and Aug. 1 and 4. Developed in consultation with the Vancouver Fireworks Society, the Search and Rescue Operation Order involves personnel, vessels, and equipment from the Canadian Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Canadian Air Force, Vancouver Police and Fire Departments, Vancouver Port Authority, Provincial Emergency Health Services, Vancouver Parks Board, Jericho Sailing Centre, St. John Ambulance and Vector Amateur Radio.

    As it has for the past 41 years, Canadian Forces Maritime and Experimental Test Ranges (CFMETR) will provide communications and safety support to the World Championship Bathtub Race in Nanaimo July 22.

  • 6/27/2007 - Canadian Forces Part Of Canada Day In Vancouver And Victoria
    Two ships from Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet will be in Vancouver Harbour over the Canada Day weekend.  HMCS Algonquin, the flagship of the Canadian Navy’s Pacific Fleet, will be at Canada Place and HMCS Vancouver will be at North Vancouver.
