JOURNALS
The following provides a sample of magazines, newsletters and journals that
provide information on eco-efficiency and related issues such as environmental
management systems, eco-design, life cycle assessment, product stewardship,
cleaner processes and industrial ecology. Also check the individual links on
these and other topics for additional references.
Aspen Environmental
Services Provides global news, data, and analysis including
environmental newsletters, reports, research studies, and case studies. Issues
covered include eco-efficiency, environmental management systems and ISO 14001,
life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, and product stewardship.
Journal of
Cleaner Production The journal is an international forum for engineers,
managers and academics for the exchange of information on the technologies,
concepts and policies designed to encourage the implementation of new, cleaner
processes, products and services.
Journal
of Industrial Ecology The journal addresses material and energy flows
studies, dematerialization, life cycle planning, design and assessment, design
for the environment, extended producer responsibility, eco-industrial parks,
product-oriented environmental policy, and eco-efficiency.
The International Journal of
Life Cycle Assessment The journal is a forum for scientists,
practitioners, and managers concerned with life cycle assessment (LCA) and the
environmental aspects of products. It is also a source of information on books,
conferences and scientific and industrial societies related to LCA .
The Journal of
Sustainable Product Design The journal assists business decision-makers
and academics to monitor global trends on eco-design, life cycle assessment,
design for dismantling, eco-innovation, systems change and dematerialisation.

TECHNOLOGY AND FINANCING ASSISTANCE
Canadian Technology
Network
The Canadian Technology Network provides small or
medium-sized technology related business with access to a wide range of
technology and related business assistance through a cross-country network of
advisors. Each advisor is employed by an organization known for its technology
or related business competence.
Industrial
Research Assistance Program (IRAP) IRAP assists SMEs to become more
innovative and to meet the technological challenges they face in delivering new
products, processes or services. This includes helping companies to improve
energy and materials efficiency, product durability and in incorporating design
for environment considerations into product and process design.
National Research
Council (NRC) NRC is a leader in scientific and technical research, the
diffusion of technology and the dissemination of scientific and technical
information. Many of NRC's research institutes are involved in initiatives that
will help Canadian industries improve the eco-efficiency of their products and
processes.
Natural Sciences and Engineering Research
Council (NSERC) NSERC invests in university-based research and training
in all the natural sciences and engineering including collaborative R&D
projects between Canadian companies and universities. Through its programs of
research chairs, networks, grants, scholarships and fellowships it supports many
initiatives supportive of eco-efficiency and sustainable development.
Sustainable Development Technology Canada
SDTC supports the development, demonstration and commercialization of
technological solutions, which address climate change and air quality.
Technologies can include those related to: energy production, use and
distribution; waste management; transportation; emissions controls; and enabling
technologies.
Technology Partnerships
Canada (TPC) TPC invests strategically in research, development and
innovation in order to encourage private sector investment, and so maintain and
grow the technology base and technological capabilities of Canadian industry.
TPC investments in environmental technologies include: better conservation
of energy, water and non-renewable resources; clean process technologies;
pollution abatement and remediation technologies.
The Green Municipal Investment
Fund (GMIF)
The fund supports the implementation of highly innovative environmental projects
by municipal governments that have a significant impact on improved environmental
performance, particularly in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. Projects
must improve air, water or soil quality, protect the climate or promote the
use of renewable resources. They must also significantly improve environmental
performance or energy efficiency.
