Other Comments
- The Canada Games was mentioned a number of times as a key development component.
- Training and development of officials was mentioned as a component that needs more focus.
- Several comments highlighted the need to focus beyond the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic games, and on summer sports as well as winter sports.
- There was consensus among participants that medals should not be the only measurement of success.
- Several comments highlighted the need to focus on grass roots development and building a ‘talent-pool' in order to feed the high performance system.
- Participants agreed with the notion of targetting, however, they did not achieve consensus on choosing to target between athletes or NSOs.
- Significant discussion focused on the need for collaboration between the sport community and the education system both through government and community partnership.
