SCRI Council Programs

Canadian Heritage (Sport Canada), in partnership with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is very pleased to introduce the Sport Canada Research Initiative council programs.

The SCRI council programs are designed to provide empirical evidence to gain a better understanding of sport participation in Canada; to inform those policies and initiatives intended to promote and enhance participation in sport in Canada; and to support and implement the Canadian Sport Policy (2002).

SSHRC and CIHR represent the 'gold standard' for peer-reviewed research in Canada and Canadian Heritage (Sport Canada) is pleased to support sport research through the regular grant initiatives of the two Councils.

Scholars from all disciplines in the social sciences and health sciences, together with those from the various sub-disciplines of physical education and kinesiology, are encouraged to apply.  Please refer to SSHRC web site for application details.  Sport Participation Research Initiative.
