Government Of Canada Announces Funding For The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network

LENNOXVILLE, May 21, 2003 -- David Price, Member of Parliament (Compton-Stanstead), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps, today announced $11,420 in funding for the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network, for the development of a strategic plan.

"The Government of Canada is proud to support the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network in its effort to improve services to its members," said Mr. Price. "The Association's networking and representational work brings new energy and strength to all those concerned with the English-speaking community's heritage."

The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network unites English-language heritage organizations across Quebec, including museums and historical societies.

Financial assistance is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Organizational Development branch of its Museums Assistance Program. The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) provides financial support to Canadian museums and related institutions for projects that foster excellence in museum activities and that facilitate access to the treasures of our collective heritage.

Funding for this initiative was forecast in the February 2003 federal budget.
