Government of Canada announces funding to Rendez-vous Rustico Limitée

HUNTER RIVER, July 11, 2003 -- Wayne Easter, Solicitor General of Canada and Member of Parliament (Malpeque), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps, today announced funding of $4,000 to Rendez-vous Rustico Limitée for the Rendez-vous Rustico festival.

"Throughout the summer, thousands of Canadians gather at festivals, such as the Rendez-vous Rustico festival, to participate in cultural activities that celebrate our Canadian identity," said Mr. Easter. "The Government of Canada is proud to support events that contribute to the cultural development of all citizens."

The funding will allow the group to organize and ensure the success of the Rendez-vous Rustico festival.

Financial support is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada-Community Agreements of the Official Languages Support Programs. These five-year agreements (1999-2004) support the development of the official-language minority communities (Francophones outside Quebec and Anglophones in Quebec).

Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.
