Defence Learning Network – Design Considerations

Instructional Systems Design (ISD) Methodology : The CF has implemented ISD through the quality control phases of the CF Individual Training and Education System (CFITES). It is highly recommended that course developers adopt an ISD approach with an analysis phase. It is widely accepted that the successful transfer of learning results from instructionally sound courses that employ task and instructional analyses approaches. The output of the instructional analysis phase in CFITES yields the critical component necessary to create learning objects.

Course developers should refer to the CF Manual of Individual Training and Education: This series of documents provides basic guidance for the design and development of courseware to be delivered and managed via the DLN. These documents also set out the minimum standard that all WBT and Computer Based Training (CBT) courseware should adhere to.
