The Big Valley Historical Society,formed in 1973, consists of a dedicated group of volunteers who have been responsible for the saving and restoration of several older buildings in the village of Big Valley (a church, a grain elevator, and a 1930's garage). We also catalog and display a number of local artifacts and memorabilia in our restored buildings as well as in two railcars and the train station.

From May to October, there are many sights to tour through--1916 church, 1930's garage/antique car museum, 1960's grain elevator, two railcar museums, an interpretive walk to the roundhouse, a 1912 Canadian Northern Rail Station and numerous farm equipment displays.
Ouvert : From May to October, all restored buildings are open to view with guides WHEN THE TOURIST TRAIN (ALBERTA PRAIRIE STEAM) IS IN TOWN. At other times, our guide will be located in the 1934 McAlister Motors building located on Railway Ave. and will gladly open up other buildings for viewing.
