RESPONSES TO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Question 4: If your country is not yet a party to the International Convention the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, please indicate:

a) What are the considerations which may have prevented its ratification or its accession to the Convention and;

b) What steps have been taken or are being planned with a view to the ratification or the accession to the Convention, such as bringing it before the authority or authorities within whose competence the matter lies for the enactment of legislation?


Canada ratified the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination on October 4, 1970. Since that time, it has submitted 12 reports to the United Nations. These reports should be consulted for additional information.
