Stop at the Visitor Reception Centre located in Val Marie at the junction of Highway #4 and Centre Street. Here, knowledgeable park staff can help you to get the most from your visit to the park as well as providing you with maps, current information, self-guiding brochures.
Grasslands National Park, west block, is accessible by dry-weather roads only. Visitors are welcome to explore the park on their own by hiking the valley and coulees.
One of the best ways to enjoy the park is by horseback. Some other popular activities for visitors are bird watching and nature photography. Bicycling is a possibility on many of the old vehicle trails.
School tours are available in late May and June. Park staff can also provide educational extension programs. Again, this is a fee program. Parks staff also present special events such as:
- Canada Day activities with the town of Val Marie (July 1st, 2005)
- East Block Party sleepover and hike (August 6th and 7th)
- Have Yourself a Prairie Little Christmas lantern hike and Christmas concert (Nov 26th and 27th, 2005)
