Nov 30, 2006 - AGREEMENT SIGNED ON CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION OF SCHOOL-COMMUNITY CENTRES
The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan today announced the signing of an agreement on the construction and renovation of the school-community centres that make up the École canadienne-française in Saskatoon.

Nov 21, 2006 - GOVERNMENT INVESTS $22.5 MILLION IN SASKATCHEWAN SCHOOLS

Saskatchewan students and communities will benefit from major upgrades to schools throughout the province this year. The Government of Saskatchewan announced approximately $22.5 million in the 2006-07 Mid-Year Report to improve the learning environment in pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 schools and to cover construction inflation costs.

Nov 9, 2006 - PREMIER CALVERT MOBILIZES SASKATCHEWAN SUPPORT FOR LITERACY ACTION DAY
Premier Lorne Calvert expressed support for the Saskatchewan Literacy Network in lobbying the federal government to reinstate federal literacy funding at today's Literacy Action Day on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Literacy Action Day is a planned, annual event sponsored and organized by the Movement for Canadian Literacy.

The province has introduced new regulations to ensure parents and families are directly involved in their children's learning. The regulations further define the operations of School Community Councils, the new vehicle for parent and community engagement in schools that was proclaimed in legislation on May 19, 2006.
