Claudette Bradshaw Announces an Investment in the Arts and Heritage in Moncton

MONCTON, March 15, 2002 -- On behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps, Minister of Labour and Secretary of State (Multiculturalism) (Status of Women) Claudette Bradshaw today announced funding of $91,965 for the arts and heritage in Moncton, New Brunswick.

"This investment in arts and cultural initiatives in New Brunswick will help make the arts and culture more accessible and will encourage both anglophone and francophone citizens to take part in the cultural life of our region," said Minister Bradshaw.

Today's investment is made through the following programs:

Arts Presentation Canada program:
2002 edition of the Hub Cap Comedy Festival de l'humour: $25,000

Cultural Initiatives program:
2003 edition of the Hub Cap Comedy Festival de l'humour: $25,000
2002 edition of the FrancoFête Dieppe-Moncton: $21,965
3rd edition of the Festival littéraire Northrop Frye Literary Festival: $20,000

Total: $91,965

This is the last fiscal year during which applications to the Cultural Initiatives Program will be considered. Festivals previously eligible can submit a request under the Arts Presentation Canada program.Funding for these projects was provided for in the December 2001 federal budget and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
