Mark Eyking Announces Financial Support to the Celtic Colours Festival
BADDECK, March 15, 2002 -- On behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps, Mark Eyking, Member of Parliament (Sydney-Victoria), today announced funding of $30,000 to the 6th edition of the Celtic Colours Festival in Baddeck, Nova Scotia."This funding clearly demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to supporting access to the arts, fostering excellence and diversity, and increasing the stability of the arts sector in the Atlantic regions," said Mr. Eyking.
The Department o f Canadian Heritage has provided funding to Celtic Colours Festival under the Cultural Initiatives Program (CIP). This is the last fiscal year during which applications to CIP will be considered. Festivals previously eligible can submit a request under the Arts Presentation Canada program.
Funding for this project was provided for in the December 2001 federal budget and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
