The Government of Canada Announces Funding for New Dance Horizons

REGINA, May 20, 2003 -- Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Member of Parliament
(Wascana), on behalf of Sheila Copps, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced funding of $ 50,450 for New Dance Horizons, a professional dance company in Regina.

"Arts, heritage, and culture connect us as Canadians and deepen our understanding of one another," said Mr. Goodale. "The Government of Canada is committed to helping arts organizations maintain stability and develop capacity so they can focus on what they do best: create and present great art."

New Dance Horizons will use these funds to develop new planning, financial, and organizational capacity. The funding is provided under the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (CAHSP). CAHSP supports modern management and greater financial stability in arts and heritage organizations.

Funding for this initiative was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.
