Government of Canada Announces Funding for C.D. Spectacles Inc.

MONTREAL, June 18, 2003 -- Georges Farrah, Member of Parliament (BonaventureÑGaspéÑÎles-de-la-MadeleineÑPabok), on behalf of the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, today announced funding of $30,000 for C.D. Spectacles Inc. to help finance the presentation of 40 performances in Gaspé over the next year.

"One of the Government of Canada's objectives is to offer citizens in all regions better access to a variety of professional performances," said Mr. Farrah. "We are proud to support C.D. Spectacles Inc., a locally established promoter that encourages us to discover artists from across Canada and beyond."

With years of varied programming to its credit Ñ including music, theatre, song, comedy, and dance shows Ñ C.D. Spectacles Inc. reaches audiences of all ages. This year, eight children's shows will be offered.

The group will be integrating shows for English-speaking audiences into its new program to better reach the Anglophone minority in the Gaspé.

Financial assistance is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through its Arts Presentation Canada program. Arts Presentation Canada seeks to give Canadians more access to direct experiences of the diversity and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences provided by arts presenters.

Funding for this initiative was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.
