Minister Frulla Announces Appointment to the Canadian Museum of Civilization Board of Trustees

OTTAWA, September 1, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced the appointment of Jean-Claude Cyr, of Montréal, Quebec, as a part-time member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

"I am pleased to have Mr. Cyr join the Canadian Museum of Civilization, where I know his experience in business and finance will be used to great benefit," said Minister Frulla.

Since 2003, Mr. Cyr has been a consultant with several firms, including Group Dayan, where he helped develop a low-cost housing project in Montréal. He also serves as an Advisor to the Chair of the Board of Quartier International de Montréal and as Executive Advisor with the Weloga Group. From 1995 to 2004, he was with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec as Executive Advisor, Senior Vice-President, Investment Planning and Management, and Vice-President, Planning and Coordinator for Quebec Economic Affairs. He was also Senior Vice-President, Strategic Planning and Financial Analysis, with Ivanhoe Cambridge from 1990 to 1995; Vice-President, Real Estate Investments, with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec from 1984 to 1990; and Director with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation from 1971 to 1984.

Mr. Cyr has been Director of the Board of CDP Capital-Hypothèques since 1996 and Director of the Montréal Museum of Contemporary Art since 1990. He has also served as President of the Board of Quartier international de Montréal from 1999 to 2004, and as a director of Cadillac Fairview Corporation and Cambridge Shopping Centres.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation is the Crown corporation responsible for managing the Canadian Museum of Civilization and its affiliated museum, the Canadian War Museum, as well as the Virtual Museum of New France. One of the Corporation's most important goals is to foster greater appreciation among Canadians of their shared heritage.
