New Member Appointed to the Canada Council
OTTAWA, January 24, 1996 Canadian Heritage Minister Michel Dupuy today announced to appointment of Irving Zucker as a member of the Canada Council.Mr. Zucker, from Hamilton, Ont., has more than 30 years broadcasting experience and has owned several radio stations in Ontario and the Maritimes. For 20 years, he has sponsored the Zucker Lecture Series at the McMaster School of Business. The Hamilton Art Gallery recently opened the Irving Zucker Sculpture Court on Commonwealth Square, the first of its kind in Canada which features sculptures gifted from his personal collection.
Mr. Zucker has been a contributor to the living arts, including Opera Hamilton, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, and Hamilton Place Theatre. He has also served three years on the Economic Council of Canada.
The appointment is effective immediately.
