OTTAWA, July 30, 1999 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps today announced that $45,000 has been granted to the 1999 edition of Les FrancoFolies de Montréal. This 11th edition will take place in Montreal from July 30 to August 7, 1999.

"Les FrancoFolies de Montréal offers a unique opportunity to showcase and discover talented artists from here and abroad who promote the vitality of the French language. Each year, this festival attracts music lovers and enthusiasts of all types of music and brings together Francophones from around the world," said Minister Copps.

The Government of Canada is proud to have been a partner from the very beginning of Les FrancoFolies de Montréal and many other cultural events in order to promote the development and growth of the arts and culture in Canada.
