Contractor for Canada's Expo 2000 Pavilion Announced

OTTAWA, March 26, 1999 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps announced today that Kadoke Displays Limited has been awarded the design-build contract for the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2000. Kadoke Displays is associated with Lambert Multimédia, who will be responsible for the multimedia and audio-visual components of the Pavilion.

Kadoke Displays Limited is a Canadian company with 37 years of experience in exhibit design and construction, and has offices in Toronto, Ottawa, Germany and the United Kingdom. Located in Montréal, Lambert Multimédia has established itself as one of the industry leaders in Canada, with more than 31 years of experience in its field.

"We are pleased to be able to proceed with the design of the main component of Canada's participation in Expo 2000, and to have the benefit of these companies' knowledge and expertise," Minister Copps said.

Expo 2000, whose central theme is Humankind - Nature - Technology, is taking place in Hanover, Germany, from June 1 to October 31, 2000. Overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, organizing and executing Canada's participation in international expositions rests with the Department of Canadian Heritage.

The design-build contract was awarded through a two-stage nationally advertised competitive process administered on Canadian Heritage's behalf by the Department of Public Works and Government Services. Selection of the successful proponent was made by a review board composed of federal government officials with expertise in related areas. The $14,878,000 contract is a turn-key operation consisting of architectural, interior, graphic and exhibit design, as well as audio-visual, multimedia and film presentations.

"Canada's pavilions at international expositions have always been among the most popular pavilions with visitors and the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2000 will certainly be no exception," concluded Minister Copps.
