Sheila Copps Announces Appointment to Telefilm Canada

OTTAWA, May 15, 2000 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps today announced the appointment of Louise Pelletier to the board of the Canadian Film Development Corporation (Telefilm Canada).

Since 1973, Ms. Pelletier has worked in the television industry, first as a researcher and then as a scriptwriter. She began her career in youth programming with Radio-Canada and various production firms such as Gilles Ste-Marie, Interimage, S.E.P.T., Vision4 and SDA. Since the late 80's, Ms. Pelletier has been a scriptwriter for several productions such as "Sauve qui peut!", "À nous deux", "À la folie", "Blanche", "The First Day of My Life", "Le vendredi de Jeanne Robinson" and "Nenette."

From 1984 to 1998, Ms. Pelletier was a board member of the Société des auteurs de radio-télévision-cinéma (SARTEC) as well as Chair from 1992 to 1996. She was also a scriptwriters' representative at the Institut québécois de cinéma from 1989 to 1992.
