Minister Copps Announces Appointment to the National Capital Commission

OTTAWA, February 3, 2003 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps today announced the appointment of Robert D. Guibord, of Cumberland, Ontario, as a member of the National Capital Commission.

Mr. Guibord is the President of Projek Design & Development Inc., a project management and project delivery company. He has more than 30 years of project management and project delivery experience in real property, information technology, Web technology, and document and records management. For ten years, he worked for various architect firms and the Bank of Canada before establishing his own company in 1982.

Mr. Guibord has served on the boards of a number of community organizations including as the Founding President of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce, the Youth Net fundraising President of the Orleans Richelieu Club and the Director of the City of Cumberland Economic Development Committee.

The National Capital Commission plans and controls the use of federal lands in the National Capital Region. It emphasizes the importance of the region as the seat of the Government of Canada. It also promotes activities aimed at enriching the cultural and social fabric of Canada, while taking into account the federal aspect of Canada, its official languages, and its heritage. It also creates a meeting place for Canadians; and it safeguards and protects the capital for future generations through real estate development and management.
