Minister Copps Announces appointment to The National Gallery of Canada

OTTAWA, June 20, 2003 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps today announced the appointment of Helen M. Graham, of Toronto, as a trustee to the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Canada.

Ms. Graham graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queens University and pursued studies in Arts in Canada and abroad. Ms. Graham has been involved on the boards of many cultural and community organizations. Some of her current involvements include serving on the boards of The Writers Trust of Canada and the Shaw Festival.

Over the years, Ms. Graham has been an active volunteer with a number of organizations namely the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart to Hand, a charitable organization which distributes food to families in need.

The National Gallery of Canada Corporation is responsible for the management of the National Gallery of Canada and its affiliate, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. It develops, maintains, and makes known, throughout Canada and internationally, a collection of both historic and contemporary art, with special but not exclusive reference to Canada.
