Currently a professor in the Department of Art History and Museology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Mr. Lacroix has worked, throughout his career, within many arts conservation organizations, such as the Universities Art Association of Canada, the Canadian Museums Association, and the International Council of Museums.

Mr. Lacroix holds a Ph.D. in art history from Université Laval and a diploma in museology from the École du Louvre. He has published many articles and works that have earned him numerous prizes and awards, including the Prix Carrière presented by the Société des Musées québécois in 1997; awards of merit from the Canadian Museums Association in 1993, and the American Association for State and Local History in 1992; and the Prix France-Québec in 1990.

The Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board is mandated to determine whether a cultural property is of outstanding significance or national importance under the terms of the Cultural Property Export and Import Act. It is also responsible for determining the fair market value of objects donated to Canadian institutions, such as libraries, archives, or museums. In addition, the Board reviews appeals of denied applications for permits to export cultural property.
