Minister Frulla Announces Appointment to the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Canada

OTTAWA, March 31, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced the appointment of Robert J. Perry, of Regina, Saskatchewan, to the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Canada as a part-time Vice-Chair.

"Mr. Perry's experience in the cultural field is a great asset that will certainly be of benefit to the National Gallery," said Minister Frulla.

Mr. Perry has been with Kramer Ltd. since 1977 and is presently its Chief Financial Officer. From 1967 to 1977, he was Accounting Manager of Industrial Sales Ltd. A Certified Management Accountant, he is a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Saskatchewan.

He was associated with the Mackenzie Art Gallery from 1988 to 2003, having served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of its Board of Trustees. He was also active on several committees including the Membership Development Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Acquisitions Committee. He served as Treasurer of the Labatt Brier in 1992, as well as Treasurer of the Regina Dance Works in 1997.

The National Gallery of Canada Corporation is responsible for the management of the National Gallery of Canada and its affiliate, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. It develops, maintains, and promotes, throughout Canada and internationally, a collection of both historic and contemporary art with special, but not exclusive, reference to Canada.
