Minister Frulla Announces Appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Canada Science and Technology Museum
OTTAWA, April 26, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced the appointment of Walter R. Parsons, of Ottawa, Ontario, as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Canada Science and Technology Museum."I am certain that Mr. Parsons' experience and know-how will be of tremendous help to the Canada Science and Technology Museum's Board of Trustees," said Minister Frulla.
Mr. Parsons is currently semi-retired and is a Goodwill Ambassador for Neilson Dairy and Weston Foods. He was involved in the dairy industry from 1968 to 2000 and was General Sales Manager for Clark Dairy from 1968 to 1971. He served as Vice-President, Sales and Marketing of Clark Dairy from 1971 to 1977. From 1977 to 1979, he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Donlands Dairy in Toronto and also served as Chair of the Management Committee.
In 1979, Mr. Parsons returned to Ottawa, where he served as Vice-President and General Manager of Neilson Dairy and also as a Member of the Wm. Neilson Ltd. Executive Committee until 1989. He was then made Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Neilson Dairy and continued as Member of the Executive Committee until 2000.
Before working in the dairy industry, Mr. Parsons was employed in retail operations with M. Loeb Limited, from 1963 to 1967, and was a Government of Canada economist from 1967 to 1968.
Mr. Parsons has served a member on the Boards of the Riverside Hospital, Friends of the Farm, the Better Business Bureau, and the Ottawa Food Bank.
