Minister Frulla Announces Appointment to the Canadian Museum of Civilization

OTTAWA, June 13, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced the appointment of
A. Webster Macdonald, Jr., of Calgary, Alberta, as a part-time member of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

"I am pleased that Mr. Macdonald, with his legal background and personal involvement with an institution as renowned as the Glenbow Museum, will be able to contribute to the success of the Canadian Museum of Civilization," said Minister Frulla.

A lawyer by profession, Mr. Macdonald has been a partner in several major legal firms including: Macdonald, Macdonald, Sullivan, MacDonald & Pope (1970--1979); Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer (1979--1986); Singleton, Urquhart, Macdonald (1986--1995); and Blake, Cassels & Graydon (1995--2004).

His roles with the Glenbow Museum include Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1999 to 2000, Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2000 to 2002, and member of the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2004. He was on the Calgary Police Commission from 1994 to 1997, having also served terms as its Vice-Chairman and Chairman.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation is the Crown corporation responsible for managing the Canadian Museum of Civilization and its affiliated museum, the Canadian War Museum, as well as the Virtual Museum of New France. One of the Corporation's most important objectives is to foster greater appreciation among Canadians of their shared heritage.
