Appointment to the Canada Council

OTTAWA, November 20, 1998 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, today announced the appointment of Susan Ferley of Regina, Saskatchewan to the Canada Council.

Ms. Ferley began her career as a freelance director and actor for a number of theatre companies, primarily in Western Canada. Since 1990, she has been the Artistic Director of the Globe Theatre.

Ms. Ferley received the Woman of Distinction in the Arts Award of Regina in 1995 and the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal. Her appointment is for a three year period.
