Saint-Lambert, December 10, 2003 -- Yolande Thibeault, Member of Parliament (Saint-Lambert), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps, today announced funding of $53,194 to Soulières Éditeur.

"The Government of Canada is pround to support the efforts put forth by this publisher in order to offer quality publications at a competitive price and to make them always more accessible to our young readers," explained Mrs. Thibeault. "I wish to congratulate the publishing company Soulières Éditeur for its exceptional work in offering its readers works in which they can recognize themselves and which they can enjoy while getting away from it all."

Founded in 1996, Soulières Éditeur publishes quality works intended for young readers in a variety of genres, from novels to comic strips. This funding assistance will enable the publishing company to be more competitive by reducing its production costs while multiplying its marketing activities.

This financial support is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage under the Aid to Publishers initiative of its Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP). The main purpose of Aid to Publishers is to ensure the production and marketing of books from Canadian authors both in Canada and abroad.

Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2003 federal Budget.
