Government of Canada Supports Bouton d'or Acadie Publishing

MONCTON, April 15, 2005 -- Minister of State (Human Resources Development) and Member of Parliament (Moncton--Riverview--Dieppe) Claudette Bradshaw, on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla, today announced $14,802 in funding for the Bouton d'or Acadie publishing house. The funds will enable the publisher to increase its promotional activities, penetrate new markets, and ensure its financial viability.

"I congratulate Bouton d'or Acadie, which contributes significantly to the vitality of the children's publishing industry in New Brunswick," said Minister Bradshaw. "I encourage it to continue its efforts to provide young readers with a wide range of works written by Canadian authors."

"For more than 25 years, the Government of Canada has supported our publishing industry so that Canadians can have access to books that reflect their realities," said Minister Frulla. "We can be proud of that commitment to the people who provide us with access to our literature."
