The Government of Canada is Proud to Support the 18th Edition of the Mondial des cultures de Drummondville

OTTAWA, June 17, 1999 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage Sheila Copps announced today that $15,000 has been granted to the 1999 edition of the Mondial des cultures de Drummondville. This 18th edition will take place in Drummondville from July 9 to 18, 1999.

"The Mondial des cultures de Drummondville enables audiences to discover and savour the cultures of several countries in a fraternal, congenial atmosphere. We are pleased to be associated with a project dedicated to the dissemination of international folk culture," said Minister Copps.

The Government of Canada is proud to support the Mondial des cultures de Drummondville and many other cultural events that promote the development and growth of the arts and culture in Canada.

In this Year of La Francophonie in Canada, the Mondial reflects the cultural and artistic vitality of Francophones from all over Canada.

The Department of Canadian Heritage has given this financial support to the 1999 edition of the Mondial des cultures de Drummondville through the Cultural Initiatives Program. Funding for this project was provided for in the February 1999 federal budget and is therefore built into the existing fiscal framework.
