Appointments to the Canadian Museum of Civilization

OTTAWA, December 6, 1995 Canadian Heritage Minister Michel Dupuy today announced the appointment of four persons to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. The appointments are for three years.

They are Ms. Gloria Webster of Alert Bay, B. C.; Ms. Claudette Roy of Edmonton, Alta.; Prof. Robert Bothwell of Toronto, Ont., and Mr. Pierre Dufour of Aylmer, Que.

Ms. Webster received the University of British Columbia's 75th anniversary award for community work and a Merit Award from the British Columbia Museums Association for her work on the history and culture of Aboriginal people. She has been a consultant to various museums in Canada, as well as to Smithsonian Institute and the American Museum of Natural History.

Ms. Roy is an educator and has served as treasurer of La Fédération des Parents Francophones de l'Alberta, secretary-treasurer of The Federation of Scouts and Guides for Western Canada (Francophone division) and president of The Association of Scouts and Guides of Alberta.

Prof. Bothwell teaches Canadian History at the University of Toronto and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Ontario Heritage Foundation. He has also helped to organize conferences focusing on Canada's international relations.

Mr. Dufour is a senior partner in the law firm of Dufour, Isabelle & Cusson in Hull. He has served as president of La Fondation du Pavillon du Parc, a hospital serving patients with physical and mental disabilities.
