Appointment to Board of Trustees of Canada Science and Technology Museum

OTTAWA, November 27, 2006 - The Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, today announced the appointment of James S. Paul, of Ottawa, as part-time chair of the board of trustees of the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation.

"Mr. Paul brings a strong combination of financial, operational, and legal expertise to the board. I look forward to the leadership he will be providing," said Minister Oda.

Mr. Paul is a founder of iMPath Networks, an international technology company that specializes in the design, manufacture, and sale of sophisticated video networking products. Currently president and chief executive officer, he has also served as iMPath's chief financial officer. Mr. Paul was a key player in the company's emergence as a leading provider of digital video networking solutions to a global marketplace.

An Ontario lawyer, Mr. Paul headed the legal department at Mitel, a public telecommunications company, earlier in his career. He then joined the senior management team at Newbridge Networks from start-up through its initial public offering. He subsequently became a managing partner of an Ottawa-based investment banking firm providing financial and business advisory services to Canadian technology companies.

A lifetime resident of the National Capital Region, Mr. Paul is a member and regular visitor with his three young children of all of the Corporation's museums.

"I enjoy rediscovering Canada's technological achievements during my visits and look forward to contributing to the advancement of the Museum's objectives," said Mr. Paul.

The Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation is responsible for preserving and protecting Canada's scientific and technological heritage and promoting and sharing knowledge about that heritage. The Corporation and its three museums-the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum-tell the stories of Canadian ingenuity and achievement in science and technology and demonstrate how these accomplishments have contributed to the building of our country.
