Media AdvisoriesBoomer Caps to be sent from local community to Afghanistan Nov. 3, 2006 Boomer Caps to be sent from local community to Afghanistan 19 WING COMOX - Over 2000 Boomer caps and quilts will be presented to medical staff at 19 Wing on Monday, 6 Nov, at 21 Health Services. Maureen Eykelenboom and volunteers with Soroptimist International of Courtenay service club will hand the Boomer Caps and quilts to the staff, who will ship it to medical staff at 1st Field Ambulance, CFB Edmonton, for tagging and furtherance to Afghanistan, where the items will be handed out by Canadian soldiers to Afghani families and hospital workers for infants in need. Maureen Eykelenboom is the mother of Cpl. Andrew Eykelenboom, a medic with 1st Field Ambulance who was killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan on August 11. Cpl. Eykelenboom was dedicated to helping the Afghani people and his mother is committed to continuing his legacy, which the members of 19 Wing and the Canadian Forces are honoured to support. Media are invited to attend the presentation on Monday, November 6 at 19 Wing Comox. Media are asked to meet at the MP guardhouse at 10:15 a.m. The presentation will take place at the 21 Health Services building at 10:30 a.m., interviews to follow. - 30 - Media interested in attending this event are asked to contact Capt.
