MARPAC Overview

Air Support

The Joint Task Force (Pacific) Air Control Element (ACE) is integral to the JTF(P) Headquarters and works with the joint staff to achieve the desired Air Effects within the JTF(P) area of responsibility. The assigned 15 Regular and Reserve Air Force personnel coordinate all air activity in support of all JTF(P) operations and training. The primary role of the ACE is to exercise Operational Control on behalf of the Commander JTF(P) for assigned air resources. In concert with the Combined Force Air Component Commander (CFACC) and the other Regional Air Control Elements, JTF(P) ACE coordinates requests for air resources in support of JTF(P) operational air requirements. These air activities include airlift, overland operations, maritime surface and subsurface surveillance, and reconnaissance missions that are conducted in support of national security objectives, Canadian/US (CANUS) interests or NATO operations. Additionally, JTF(P) ACE facilitates air services supporting Maritime and Air Force readiness requirements and coordinates Air Force participation in Pacific theatre exercises. The Commander JTF(P) ACE is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the air staff, and when designated, will be the Air Component Commander (ACC) for JTF(P) operations.
