Alternative Fuel Vehicle Technology

The automotive sector has interests in the research and development of alternative fuel vehicle technologies in response to the long term decline in world fossil fuels. Moreover, there is the necessity for environmentally clean technologies to comply with emissions regulations. Alternative fuels generally refer to propane, natural gas, methanol, ethanol, hydrogen, and electric power sources. Each fuel has its own properties and support infrastructure requirements. The design of alt fuel vehicles includes dedicated fuel or flexible fuel units. British Columbia Research Inc.
The Centre for Alternative Transportation Fuels is operated by BC Research Inc.(BCRI) in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The Centre's staff maintains a database of technical papers to support the technical and business community in this rapidly moving technological area. BCRI also publishes the CATF Review, a quarterly newsletter which is distributed by mail to over 3,100 locations around the world. The CATF Review is now available online via this server.

The Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance

The Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance is an association of companies involved in the natural gas industry including natural gas utilities, NGV component and parts industries, governments, consultants and R & D firms. The purpose of the Alliance is to bring all NGV expertise together to consolidate effort and to promote the development and sustainability of the natural gas vehicle market in Canada.

Canadian Oxygenated Fuels Association

The Canadian Oxygenated Fuels Association is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the development and promotion of transportation fuels which reduce air pollution. Our focus is on fuels which increase their oxygen content by the addition of alcohols or their ether derivatives. This allows more complete combustion of the fuel, and thus reduces a number of important toxic emissions.
