CFTM

Welcome to Measurement Canada’s CFTM information page. The Canadian Forum on Trade Measurement (CFTM) provides a venue for exchanging of information on trade measurement, accreditation issues and provides a mechanism for receiving input from stakeholders on the development and implementation of rules and requirements emerging from the Weights and Measures Act and Regulations, the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act and Regulations as well as Measurement Canada’s Accreditation Program.

Message from the President
At the November 2004 CFTM, I announced that I would be assessing the benefits, structure, timing and costs of the Forum before scheduling the next one. The purpose of this assessment is to determine whether the Forum is meeting the needs of our clients and Measurement Canada. Have these needs changed? Are there other venues or formats that would be better suited to our collective needs? Is the CFTM providing the best value for money?

I have decided not to hold a CFTM in Spring 2006. The results of an on-line survey were inconclusive and therefore further consultation with Measurement Canada staff and clients is necessary before I can make a decision regarding future Forums. I expect to be in a position to make this decision in the next few months.

I invite you to send Measurement Canada your views on the CFTM, the value you believe the event brings to your company and suggested means of improvement. These comments can be sent to Tanya Huneault.

Thank you
Sincerely,
Alan Johnston
President, Measurement Canada
