2003-04-22 Expansion of the Measurement Canada Accreditation Program

S-A-01:2002, Criteria for the Accreditation of Organizations to Perform Inspections Pursuant to the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act and the Weights and Measures Act has been revised to include the verification of electricity metering installations. This expansion is in accordance with the electricity trade sector review recommendation 11f: expanding the scope of the Accreditation Program in the interim to include metering installations inspections for any accredited organization that voluntarily wishes to enter into this type of program.

The latest revisions include:

  • requirements related to the accreditation for the verification of electricity metering installations;
  • minor editorial and grammatical changes;
  • addition of a revision process and table;
  • clarification of responsibilities for applicants; and
  • addition of a paragraph specifying the change of the Measurement Canada official location for accredited organizations’ quality system manual.

The above noted revisions (additional changes) do not include any new requirements and will not require significant changes to an accredited organization’s quality systems.

The revised accreditation standard applies as of the date of issue and posting on the Measurement Canada internet site, and it supercedes all other previously issued accreditation documents. The target date for issue is the end of April 2003.

The accreditation standard S-A-01:2002 is issued in electronic format only.
