2004-06-07 Issuing of Revisions to Accreditation Standard S-A-01:2002 and the Accompanying Guide S-A-01-G:2002

As of June 7, 2004, Measurement Canada has issued revisions to the Accreditation Standard S-A-01: 2002, Criteria for Accreditation of Organizations to Perform Inspections Pursuant to the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act and the Weights and Measures Act, and the accompanying Guide S-A-01-G:2002.

This revised accreditation standard applies as of the date of issue and supersedes all other previously issued versions of S-A-01:2002 and the accompanying guide S-A-01-G:2002.

This newest revision to S-A-01:2002 does not contain any changes to the quality management system requirements of the standard. It provides clarifications, incorporates information previously provided through bulletins and corrects editorial and formating errors.

For organizations seeking accreditation for inspection under the Weights and Measures Act, this revision contains some changes to the requirements. These changes address areas such as the eligibility of organizations and recognized technicians, and the manner in which the accreditation program scope is defined. For organizations accredited prior to the issuance of this revision, appropriate time will be permitted to adjust to the changes in the requirements.

The revision table provides a complete list of revisions to the Standard and its Guide.

The Criteria for the Accreditation of Organizations to Perform Inspections Pursuant to the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act and the Weights and Measures Act, S-A-01:2002 [revision 2004-06-07] and Accreditation Standard Guide (S-A-01-G:2002) is available electronically only; is located on Measurement Canada’s web site: http://mc.ic.gc.ca; and is considered to be the controlled copy.

Enquiries for additional information regarding this revision to the accreditation standard should be directed to:
