The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery was established in 1956 to promote interest in and study of the arts, and the fine arts in particular. It is the largest public gallery in the Region of Waterloo, and serves a regional population of 415 000. The KW|AG is located in the prestigious Centre in the Square arts complex, where it occupies 21 500 square feet.

Renseignements sur les collections The KW|AG maintains one permanent collection of fine arts objects. Nombre d'objets ou spécimens dans la collection : 3900 Beaux-arts The KW|AG Permanent Collection consists of approximately 4000 works of art. Although the collection is primary composed of 20th Century Canadian paintings and prints by artists of regional or national significance, it is very diverse, and represents a wide range of styles, cultures, and media. Walk-in programmes for children are scheduled approximately once per month during the school year. Artist lectures frequently accompany exhibitions.
