The Business Mission to India, organized by the Government of Ontario, will visit New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Punjab from January 14 to 21, 2007, after which the official Ontario delegation will join the Canada-Pakistan Business Council Mission to Pakistan, from January 19 to 25, 2007. The official Ontario delegation will visit Lahore and Islamabad.

Premier Dalton McGuinty, accompanied by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sandra Pupatello and Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship Harinder Takhar, will visit India and Pakistan to boost trade and investment and build opportunity for Ontario businesses and organizations.


The India Mission will concentrate on:

• Infrastructure - Transportation and Environmental Service and Technologies;
• Research & Innovation Collaborations - Life Sciences (biotechnology, nanotechnology and pharmaceuticals), Information and Communication Technologies (ICT);
• Financial Services - Banking, Insurance, Venture Capital Consortia, Consulting Services;
• Education - Public Colleges and Universities;
• Cultural Industries - Film, Animation, Interactive Digital.

Note: Sector programming will only be provided for the above.

The Pakistan Mission will focus on:

• Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

These sectors are areas in which Ontario businesses, industries and organizations excel. They are also sectors that both India and Pakistan are now building and strengthening as they grow and modernize their economies. The mission is designed to give Ontario delegates optimal opportunity to build networks and partnerships that have the greatest potential to lead to tangible business contracts.
