Regional Roundtables finding better ways to serve children, youth and families
During the winter of 2004, Ontario's Minister of Children's Services went to communities across Ontario to meet with community partners and gather ideas to improve services for young people. She visited hospitals, early learning sites, treatment centres, youth justice facilities, community agencies and schools. Dr. Bountrogianni saw first-hand how children, youth and families are being served and spoke directly with the people who provide these services.
"As we build the new Ministry of Children's Services, we have a tremendous opportunity to create real, positive change in the way we support our children, youth and families," said Dr. Bountrogianni.
The roundtables were held over the winter across the province. They brought together community service providers, educators, health care, early learning and youth justice professionals and many others to gather ideas on better integrating Ontario's wide range of services for children, youth and families.
"Working with our community partners, we can help give kids the best start by getting them ready to learn, making it easier for families to access the services they need for all stages of a child's development, and preparing youth to become productive adults," Bountrogianni said.
